How to Talk to Your “Inner Fat Brain” (And Take Your Power Back)

There’s a voice that doesn’t get talked about enough in weight loss.

It’s not your hunger.

It’s not your body.

It’s not even your lack of willpower.

It’s what I call your inner fat brain.

And no, this isn’t about shame. This is about awareness.

Because my inner fat brain wasn’t something I was born with. It was created over time. It was shaped by every piece of toxic diet culture I was exposed to. Every extreme restriction. Every time I starved myself. Every time I punished my body with workouts. Every time I felt invisible… or worse, like a spectacle.

That voice learned from all of it.

And eventually, it started running the show.

When Your Mind Starts Working Against You

At my heaviest, over 600 pounds, my inner fat brain didn’t just whisper, it shouted.

It told me:

- “You’ve already messed up, so you might as well keep going.”

- “You’ll never actually change.”

- “This is just who you are.”

And the hardest part?

It felt true.

That voice didn’t just influence my choices, it sabotaged my life. It kept me stuck in patterns that pulled me further away from health, from confidence, from living. It convinced me to avoid experiences, to stay small, to not even try.

It didn’t just affect my weight.

It affected everything.

Fighting Back, Hundreds of Times a Day

There was no moment where everything just clicked.

No magic switch.

At 600 pounds, I had to learn how to challenge that voice, and some days, it meant fighting back hundreds of times a day.

Not once. Not twice. Over and over again.

Every time it told me to quit… I had to answer back.

Every time it told me I wasn’t capable… I had to prove it wrong.

Every time it tried to pull me into old habits… I had to pause and choose differently.

It was exhausting. But it was necessary.

Because if I didn’t take control of that voice, it was going to control me forever.

Creating a New Voice

Here’s what changed everything for me:

I realized I couldn’t just silence my inner fat brain, I had to replace it.

So I created a new version of myself in my mind.

A version that was happy. Healthy. Confident. Free.

She wasn’t perfect. But she made different choices. She spoke differently. She believed something better was possible.

And when my inner fat brain got loud, she was the one who fought back.

- “We don’t quit anymore.”

- “We’re building something different now.”

- “This choice matters.”

At first, it felt unnatural. Forced, even.

But over time, that voice got stronger.

And the other one? It started to lose its grip.

You Don’t Need a Perfect Plan. You Need a New Pattern.

I didn’t have a roadmap to health and happiness.

No one handed me a perfect plan or showed me exactly what to do.

I had to build it myself, step by step, choice by choice, thought by thought.

And that started in my mind.

Because real change isn’t just about what you eat or how you move. It’s about the conversation you’re having with yourself all day long.

How We Help You Take Back Control

This is one of the biggest things we work on inside our mentoring program, because if you don’t learn how to challenge that inner voice, it will keep pulling you back into old patterns no matter how good your plan is.

We help you:

- Identify your inner fat brain triggers so you can catch the thoughts before they take over

- Build your “new voice.” The version of you that makes aligned, healthy decisions

- Practice real-time interruption strategies so you can respond differently in the moment

- Break the cycle of self-sabotage without relying on guilt or extreme restriction

- Create your own roadmap to health and happiness, one that actually fits your life

Because you don’t need another strict diet.

You need a new way of thinking.

The Truth Most People Miss

You are not fighting your body.

You are fighting the patterns, beliefs, and voices that were built over years—sometimes decades.

And that means this isn’t about perfection.

It’s about practice.

It’s about showing up and choosing differently, even when it’s hard, even when it’s messy, even when that old voice is loud.

Especially then.

Because every time you push back… you weaken it.

And every time you choose the version of you that you’re becoming…

You get closer to the life you deserve.
